The Banquet

The door slowly opens. A reluctant step extends around the corner of the doorframe. Lights dance in harmony to the festive sounds of laughter and memories exchanged.

Two old friends embrace in the distance. A small child stands a top
his tippy toes to sneak a peak of the table that has been carefully
put into place. A sweet pungent aroma waltzes through the crisp autumn air only to be replaced by that of another.

All is set. Everything is in its place. Every person has come
together this November night for the same reason-- The Banquet.

On November 2, missionaries, board members and friends of Pioneer
Bible Translators held a banquet at Highland Meadows Christian Church
to "Expand Our Impact". Our hope and prayer for this banquet was to
simply tell the story of what God is doing through Pioneer Bible
Translators. We invited our friends and loved ones to help us expand
the impact that we have together so every tongue, tribe and nation may
come to know the Word of God in Jesus Christ.

But this banquet is not the sole reason we came together. There is a
Banquet to come that is of far more importance which consumes our
thoughts, prayers and energies. We came together to make preparation for the Master's Banquet we will share with Christ in glory.

While every child of God has been invited to Christ's table, 272
million have yet to receive their invitation in a language they
can understand. These are the peoples in waiting --the people the
world has passed by.

But should another generation have to wait any longer? Should any
language group ever be looked over? Should another soul be deprived
of their invitation to Christ's eschatological table?

Here at Pioneer Bible Translators we believe we are standing at the
crux of history in which the universal Church is going to have to
decide if we are going to complete the task Christ has given us or sit
idle only to allow another generation to take our place.

We have decided that this is the moment in history where we will make our
stand. This is the hour that we will extend Christ's invitation.
